Privacy Policy

YachtIn is built privacy first. No tracking, no ads, and we never sell your data. This page explains what the app handles and why.

Last updated 12 July 2026

The short version

  • Your inventory lives in your own iCloud account. We do not run a server that holds your data.
  • We collect anonymous crash and performance diagnostics to keep the app stable.
  • Photo scanning is optional. When you use it, a photo is sent to Google Gemini for recognition. It is not used to train Google's models.
  • Subscriptions are handled by Apple. No payment details ever reach us.
  • No advertising, no third party tracking, no sale of personal data.
  • Delete your data from inside the app at any time.

Your inventory data

YachtIn stores your yachts, locations, items, photos, and settings in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. This keeps your inventory in sync across your devices and lets you back it up through iCloud.

This data sits on Apple's infrastructure under your own Apple Account. We do not operate a database that holds your inventory, and we cannot read the contents of your private iCloud data. Your use of iCloud is governed by Apple's own privacy terms.

Sharing with crew and management

If you choose to share a yacht with other people, YachtIn uses Apple's CloudKit sharing to grant them access. Sharing happens directly between iCloud accounts. You control who has access and can revoke it at any time from inside the app.

Crash and performance diagnostics

To find and fix problems, YachtIn sends anonymous crash reports and performance metrics to Sentry, a diagnostics service. A typical report includes the type of device, the operating system version, the app version, and technical details about what the app was doing when an error occurred.

These diagnostics are not linked to your identity and are never used to track you or to build a profile. We use them only to keep the app working reliably. We do not sell this information and we do not share it for advertising.

AI photo scanning

YachtIn offers an optional feature that recognises an item from a photo to help you add it faster. This feature is off until you turn it on, and it runs only when you take a scan.

When you use it, the photo you are scanning is sent to Google Gemini, our cloud AI provider, which returns a suggested name and details. Google processes the image to answer that single request. Under the Gemini API terms that apply to our paid use, your photos and the results are not used to train Google's models. Google may keep the request for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring, after which it is deleted. If you never enable this feature, no photo ever leaves your device through it.

Subscriptions and payments

YachtIn subscriptions are sold and managed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles the entire transaction, so your card number and billing details never pass through YachtIn. We receive only the subscription status needed to unlock the features you paid for.

What we do not do

Deleting your data

You are in control of your data. You can delete individual items, whole yachts, or all of your data from inside the app. Because your inventory lives in your iCloud account, deleting it in the app removes it from your iCloud storage. You can also export your inventory to CSV or JSON at any time if you want your own copy before deleting.

Children

YachtIn is a professional inventory tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Meaningful changes will be reflected here before they take effect in the app.
